I love carnitine. This is great value. I take it for the fatigue that comes with hypothyroidism. I know there are reports that you should never take carnitine if you have an underactive thyroid. This makes absolutely no sense to me, and I have been unable to find any scientific support for this belief. After all, meat is high in carnitine, and hypothyroid patients aren't told to stop eating meat, are they? Of course not! There is a lot of information showing that taking carnitine helps manage the fatigue that patients with low thyroid levels can experience. Now there are studies that say it helps calm hyperthyroidism. Maybe it's because it helps balance people with hyperthyroidism? Just because it helps reduce hyperthyroidism doesn't necessarily mean it can't be taken for hypothyroidism. This is wrong thinking and hasty conclusions not supported by facts. If it makes you feel better, talk to your doctor/nutritionist/natual therapist.
