Product works great! When we upgraded to WiiU, we used a WD external hard drive to transfer all data from Wii to WiiU. Since then we've kept the hard drive connected to the WiiU, assuming everything is stored there. Just recently we received a notification that our WiiU was out of storage. It seems that the WD hard drive can be ported to USB with a USB Mini, but it cannot serve as storage for the WiiU without additional power to the device. Since it wasn't a powered hard drive, it seemed like we'd have to buy another one. I went with what we had and bought this USB-Y hoping to get more performance out of the HDD. Although a Best Buy employee told me it wouldn't work (I went there to try and find a USB-Y locally to fix our problem right away), it worked right away. And at a fraction of the cost of a new active hard drive.
