How to flip a tulip hood: where is the hood mount?

Looking at the picture of the box contents, the hood ring mount for the tulip hood was shown as a separate item. I didn't find it in the box. I was able to attach the lens hood, but I couldn't fold it onto the lens for compact storage. I contacted Veatree who dealt with me very professionally and solved my problem. The hood mount snaps into place on each side of the tulip hood! Aha! Nothing is missing. The lens hood comes out of the box and is ready to be placed on the lens. When you're done shooting, you can simply fold the mount down, allowing you to fold down the hood for compact storage. Veatree sent me an attached video showing how it's done. Remove the lens hood from the lens (remember to remove the lens cap first!). Loosen the bracket on the outside of the tulip hood, turn the hood over and secure the bracket inside the hood. For convenience, turn the lens size mark on the mount (e.g. 67mm) towards you and simply rotate the lens hood so that it faces away from you (to use the lens hood) or towards you (for the compact storage) shows. Then screw the lens hood back onto the lens and you're done. Thanks to this great, responsive Chinese seller. I noticed two slight flaws in the quality of the materials: it can be a bit difficult to put the lens cap on with the lens hood on, and the plastic of the tulip hood rubs against the mount when I rotate the hood to the desired position. These shortcomings are easy to accept, however, especially considering the price of this set. I also like the expandable rubber hood to protect the lens when wet. Three expansion stages make sense, and the fully extended rubber hood only covers the field of vision from a wide angle. The rubber cover cannot be reversed.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
