Review on Alessi Michael Graves Salt Castor by Paul Sanchez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Poor design for a basic shaker if you can believe it's possible.

I received a set of these as a gift. I loved it, but the salt shaker is poorly constructed. These holes, which are punctured all around, see through the metal. To prevent salt from squirting out of these holes, they have a transparent Plexiglas cylinder as an insert. To fill it up, turn it over and remove the bottom cap. But the liner slides up a bit. After filling it with salt and putting the lid back on and then turning it upside down, it's obvious that the salt will fall to the bottom faster than the insert, which is then resting on top of the salt. Because the liner is not the ideal size, some of the salt will leak out with use and exit through the side holes. Ironically, they wanted it to resemble the holes in a shaker, but somehow it all came together. Thank you Michael Graves!
