Thing looks great in my car. I installed it in an empty spot next to the cigarette lighter and hooked up a second cigarette lighter socket hidden behind the dash with a dual USB charger it plugs into. Basically an extension cord from a hidden car charger. It charges my phone quickly and flawlessly via USB. I checked the USB 3.0 transfer time on my computer and the transfer speed is still very fast. This thing didn't affect speed at all. One issue I had when installing it in my car was that the clips that you push to the other side and expand to lock the bracket in place were too long and couldn't release the trim to secure. Place. I had to cut them off but still have enough room to mount, so I had to find something to plug the gaps to make it tight. It wasn't difficult, but it was extra work that I wasn't expecting. Otherwise the thing works as promised. I'm ordering a second one for USB slots for the head unit in the car.
