I first purchased this item to see if I could fix an issue with the Yaesu radio. It went off when I tried to send. Eventually I found out that the old battery had a bad battery and needed to be replaced. The first battery I received was purchased just before my cruise. The only thing I took with me on the cruise was the wall adapter, which plugged into the external DC port on the side of the radio. After the battery died, I plugged it in and found that it wouldn't charge at all. I was without a radio for the entire trip. After the ride I changed the battery. To my surprise, I found that the battery was not supposed to be charged via the side DC connector, but via a charging station that contacts the battery itself. After that I used the charging station and it worked and charged perfectly. So I see a lot of comments about the battery not charging. Therefore, I recommend always charging the battery using a charging station that is in contact with the battery itself, and not via the radio. The fit was perfect and it looks just like the original battery. I would recommend.
