I bought the next size up because my Keen snow boots have a molded round rubber toe cap and no protruding outsole to keep the rubber from slipping off the cap. I used some velcro from my old YakTrax to make sure they stay on my boots. I walked on slippery snow, ice, deep hard snow and slush and felt safe in all of these situations. I walk my dogs every day and when the ground got slippery I got worried because I'm older and can't afford to fall and injure myself. I recommend these shoe chains to anyone who wants to stay upright in slippery conditions. Also, the snow doesn't gather around the chains like it does around the spikes of my ice axes.
