IPX8 rating means water can still penetrate the case but should not affect the functionality of the contents. The sealing mechanism is very secure and it may take a little effort to open and close which means it gets a good seal. Considering it's a cheap case, I wouldn't take it for snorkeling (look at the IPX8 rating and you'll understand), but it's definitely for use in the pool, hot tub or suitable for wearing on the beach. I've used it with my iPhone SE 2020 and there's plenty of room inside which means even a large flagship phone should fit comfortably. The touchscreen functionality more or less worked.
