I have switched to compostable garbage bags only. These compostable bags fit into my budget at only 13 cents per bag per week and at the same time are definitely worth it because of their environmental friendliness. I know it stands waterproof but we still avoid throwing wet objects at it so it will last a week. . There is no chemical smell, there is a faint smell of plastic, but that will dissipate over time. I have a very sensitive sense of smell and it doesn't bother me. The bag looks flimsy and doesn't seem that strong BUT it's strong enough to hold our junk. I suggest you don't stretch it too much as I don't know how it handles a lot of stretching. It is easy to break into a roll and also easy to open and tie.
