Excellent Manual Transmission Modification VW

later in my MK4 Golf engine wobble Add). decided to find out what I could do about it. These brackets are very cheap, but still very well made. Replacing them is a bit of a hassle as on VWs I've usually worked on the bolts that attach the engine mount to the subframe get caught in the aluminum bracket and therefore break (at the head) when you try to remove it. This will still leave the screws fully trapped and ingrown into the aluminum - so be prepared to deal with that. After installation, it's amazing how much better the shifting shifts because the engine no longer spins and wobbles in the bearings. The rubber isolators I removed from the bearing mount are literally as soft as jelly, so it's not hard to see how that made a difference. I doubt having to replace another flexible pipe in the exhaust system. Because these mounts are much stiffer than standard mounts, they transfer a lot more engine vibration to the car. Idling is actually the worst, it makes the car much louder inside. I would consider loosening the internal compression screw in the motor mount a bit to reduce vibration transfer. The vibration has actually decreased significantly on these, initially it was quite noisy at freeway speeds but now it's completely gone and now it just idles and starts loudly. in improved layers. If you are concerned about increased noise/vibration, this is not for you.

Pros
  • Increased wear resistance for cars, trucks and SUVs; Road salt, oil, and a host of other common undercar contaminants will eventually destroy the rubber bushings on your vehicles, not to mention the weight and torque force that would normally compress rubber (
