Cheaper than hiring a contractor
I use this material to repair rotten woodwork in our home. If we had a professional he would probably want to replace much larger pieces of wood and it would be more expensive and I can do actual repairs that way. First I remove all the rot that I can. Then I finish the torn edges with this fixer (I usually apply it with a brush, which I then throw away). After a few hours I fill in the hole with WoodEpox mixed with wood scraps (to keep costs down). Then sand and paint. Works well.
