My 8 year old has wanted this for a long time and finally got it for his birthday. He and his younger and older brothers absolutely love it and we're going to use it for the kids at his birthday party this weekend to get our own prizes to put in a gift bag. I have 3 different types of prizes and some candy to put inside. Before giving it to him, I put the batteries in and charged it. Very glad I did! You only need 1-2 in the "deep" price tier as the claw falls off a bit before it opens. I made 3 attempts and scooped up many prizes each time before hitting the perfect amount of loot. Also, it doesn't have much weight in the claw and lighter things work better (like no minibars, just tiny ones). No need to put small prizes in a holder, we have 1" small ninjas and the claw can reach them. Once I primed it, I just wrapped it up and I'm good to go. He opened it last, and it was a hit About coins There are about 20. You don't really have to throw them, you can just insert them part way and press the lever inside to activate the game And if you lose them, good old Penny works great!
