I used them as window lights. I put them inside instead of outside so I don't have to take them off after Christmas. When they're off, you can't tell they're there. Good that everything worked out of the box. Red, green and blue are very bright and easily visible from the road. The cord on it is several feet long, so you won't need an extension cord most of the time. The mods are much nicer than others I've bought. Two modes switch between solid colors and two switch between multi-colors. In addition, there is another button for the speed. You will almost certainly find something you like. Minus - the colors are quite washed out. The red is probably the best and I needed the red so it's fine but the green and blue are noticeably whiter. Most other colors are basically useless. Looking through them, there seem to be half a dozen or more shades of white. Orange can be very useful for Halloween, and green and blue can't be too bad if they're not placed next to other lights that work better. The timer has only one setting - 6 hours. You have to press it again before going to bed if you don't want to turn it off before 11. Another objection that seems to apply to all of these lights is that you can't get them to work together. The previous setting is retained only when you use the remote control or built-in control to turn it off. If you attempt to use the manual timer, the lights will turn off, and when turned back on, they revert to the default color, which is red. That means you'll have to turn them all on one at a time, and in this case you'll have to reset the timer again before bed. It really sucks. I really wanted to rate this one higher than the other one I reviewed but due to the poor color and only 6 hour timer I really don't think it deserves more than a 3. Honestly, I don't really expect each of the other brands to be different, and I'm not going to buy 20 of these things to find the perfect one. I'll probably buy at least 1 or 2 more of these for the season and then hopefully something better next year.
