Tl;dr - Left side was louder than right when plugged in and working. I double tapped the right side and the issue was resolved. I rate it 4/5. If I had no issues I would rate it 5/5. When I received my device, I first connected it to my phone (Pixel XL) and the left side was noticeably louder than the right side. I tried connecting it to three different audio sources: phone (Pixel XL), desktop PC and laptop (HP 15-au018wm). The problem persisted in 3 sources. So I went and googled to see if this was the normal ATH-m50xWH quality. After all the research I decided I had the option of either getting it hacked (as someone on the forum suggested) or getting an RMA. I tried turning it on first, but after a few minutes the volume imbalance got on my nerves too much. So, as a caveman, I gave the right side two Love Taps and immediately the right side started modulating at the same volume as the left side. A fun experience, I know, but it shouldn't be the experience of a consumer buying headphones over $170. I would give this 5 stars if the purchase didn't include the anxiety and stress of thinking that the left side is louder than the right, is this normal or is it just that I received a defective unit. So I rated it 4 stars. Having said that, I've had plenty of gaming headsets (both expensive and cheap) but the ATH-m50xWH definitely kicked their ass after it "fixed" my problem.
