I purchased this ring light specifically to photograph our board games. Although the advertised use of this light is more for live broadcast and other video applications, I also found it ideal for photography. Having said that, I would like to warn you that I am NOT a professional photographer, just someone who loves to shoot for fun. either a table or board game component. This ring light solves the problem by changing the angle of illumination from a straight head position to a low angle tilted position. This eliminates hot spots and allows for creative use of shadows and other lighting techniques. My only complaint, if I could call it that, is what I would wish for is some more brightness available. This is a minor issue and is only noticeable when the room itself is too bright. Overall though, I was happy with it, and its light weight makes it easy to move around when needed.
