Review on πŸ“· Sony Alpha Digital SLR Camera Lens: Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T DT Zoom Lens 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 by Veronica Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

An excellent lens that has a lot to offer Sony camera owners. Advanced

Results really matter in photography. I intentionally bought a lightweight DSLR and had to look for a lens that would add half a pound more weight to the camera. But I also wanted a higher quality lens than the included lens if that was deemed important. The 16-80 lens conveys what is important. This lens has some pros and cons. Pros: Extremely high-quality output, no compromises here. For lenses in the still range of acceptable weight (a little less than a pound). Small narrow zoom ring, this is quickly becoming a moot point, but takes a little getting used to (it's right next to the body, the ring farther away is a focus ring which you'll probably rarely use with the A33 (at least I won't) which is lightning fast Focusing speed is one of the advantages of this camera) which I see when you point the lens down rather than during use (maybe there was a streamlining of the focus mechanisms in previous builds of this lens, not entirely sure but that wasn't a problem) Many complained that construction materials are a compromise I am willing to accept as other materials would greatly increase the weight of the lens. Some of the weight of this lens is glass (rather than plastic, which makes cheaper lenses much lighter), and a metal body wouldn't make this lens competitive to me. Adding to a review I did a year ago: I've made this my main lens. It is heavier than a whale lentil, but far superior in quality to a whale lentil. There are three parts to a photograph: The camera, which is what you already have when considering this lens. Photographer or you. Lens. Don't make the lens the weakest link in your photography, get a great lens. That's enough.
