Review on Desktop Processor: Intel Core i5 6500 3.20 GHz Quad Core Skylake, Socket LGA 1151, 6MB Cache by Aadam Rods ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Full compliance with the manufacturers assurances, high quality.

Previously, this processor could compete with the i5-6600K and FX-8370, but now, after changing the Intel policy regarding overclocking on the bus, the i5-6500 is interesting as a budget option for the cheapest motherboards based on the H110 chipset. That said, if you don't want Intel on principle, AMD's eight-core FX outperform the 6500 by a significant margin at a lower price point.

Pros
  • Very cold (40 degrees in games with a boxed cooler), the performance is enough for any games in conjunction with a fairly powerful video card. When overclocking the bus to 4.4 GHz with a not-so-top-of-the-line cooler, the Cryorig H5 only heats up to 50 degrees in the stress test!
Cons
  • The graphics core is weaker than that of Broadwell and much weaker than even the most garbage AMD processors. For those who buy a motherboard now, bus overclocking is no longer possible.
