Review on EPICA Stainless Steel Compost Bin with Charcoal Filter - 1.3 Gallon Capacity by Mike Weaver

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This basket is great, contrary to some of the reviewers here.

I have no complaints about this compost bin so I'm giving it five stars because that's how Revain reviews work. However, based on the few reviews I'm currently reading, I guess the main reason I'm happy with this bin (aside from the fact that it does its job perfectly) is because I really understand what a compost bin is is container and what belongs to composting. Here are some tips if you're new to this: 1. A compost bin is basically just a pot with a lid. If you order this item and are then shocked when you receive in the mail what is basically just a pot with a lid (despite the many pictures on this page clearly showing that it is in fact a pot with a lid) that is ) then please just buy a pot and save yourself the trouble of posting a really stupid Revain review accusing the product of not understanding what a compost bin is. Composting collects food waste that would otherwise be *garbage* and stores it in a bucket (or pot with a lid) in the kitchen. Because of this, like everything else in your kitchen that comes into contact with food, it gets *dirty*. You'll have to *wipe* it often to get rid of any leftover stuff you put inside *just like everything else in your kitchen*. Don't let the term "compost bin" fool you into thinking this product has the magical ability to self-clean. Remember that this is just a pot with a lid. Here's the thing about food waste: it breaks down over time. They even break a little within a few days. Another word for this decomposition process is "rotting". THAT'S WHY WE COMPOST THEM. If you leave your compost on the counter for a week, it *starts to smell*. DON'T MAIL THE BUNKER - get your lazy ass off and empty the damn thing. Would you leave your trash for a week if it was full of rotting food? NO. To be honest a bin storing the waste for a week is not a good thing. A compost pit is not a panacea for all compost-related problems. If you don't want your food waste smelling on your countertop, but you also refuse to go all the way to the compost bin more than once a week, then composting might not be for you. That's fine, just don't leave a 3-star Revain review once you figure it out. OK, stop screaming. Here's what I love about this basket: * It looks great on the countertop * It has a carrying handle, unlike a regular pot with a lid * It's just the right proportions - big enough to hold a ton of stuff without taking up a lot of space on the basket but not so high that it tips over *I've had little to no problems with fruit flies, presumably because I was only trying to remove the lid when putting things in the bin *It pops off easily clean * It is durable and unbreakable. Basically, it does everything a compost bin is supposed to do, provided you don't have ridiculous, ignorant, and mutually conflicting expectations of how it works.
