Review on Enhance Climbing Skills with TRANGO Rock Prodigy Forge Training Hangboard by Pedro Hague

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Kudos to the RPTC Hanging Board

I have both this hanging board and the Rock Prodigy Training Center (RPTC) hanging board. I love RPTC and would give it 5/5 stars. It's also a great hanging board, especially for more advanced workouts, but for comparison I'd give it 4 stars. Things I don't like compared to RPTC: The texture on the variable depth edge (VDER) is too smooth for my preference. Slippage seems to be a limiting factor during training than when using the vder on my RPTC. Tried fine sandpaper but didn't help much. Pockets for two fingers (middle, ring) are less practical - the edges seem to have a smaller radius and feel relatively sharp. Finally, the two pieces of the Forge hanging board I received are not perfectly symmetrical. One is significantly thicker than the other. However, I haven't contacted Trango about this as it doesn't seem to affect performance. I am assuming this is just a production accident unique to the kit I received. Things I like about the RPTC: The thin crimp with thumb guard is a massive improvement in every way. The texture of the pliers is just right - I find them too rough for RPTC. I also like that the rate of change of depth on the variable depth edge rail is slower than the RPTC. Overall, this is a great addition to RPTC. I've added thin crimp and clamp grips to my training regimen on the Forge, but for VDER and two finger pockets I'm back to RPTC. If I had to choose one of these as my only hanger, I would go with the RPTC, especially since it offers larger, more comfortable warm-up grips. But I'm glad to have both.
