This is my 3rd Xbox One headset that I have bought in 5 years. To be honest, you shouldn't expect much from this product other than the ability to chat with friends online. I used to have an Astro A40 and (2) NUBWO gaming headsets (both died in 6 months or less). The point is, you get what you pay for. I've only had this headset for a month and haven't had any problems. The "mute" option by lifting the microphone grip doesn't always register on my headset for some reason. I find that I completely cover the mic when I want to talk to someone in the room. It's also inconvenient if you have kids running around the house making noise. In such situations, turning off the sound on the controller itself really helps. The microphone quality is average. You must speak at room level to be heard. In the end, all I needed was a mic to chat with my friends, and on that end, it delivered. Will update if mine breaks too and damn all xbox headsets
