Review on Wald Front Bicycle Basket Black Sports & Fitness by Aaron Cruz

This review is for the Wald 139 Front Basket (18x13x6, Black). This is a well made and durable basket. Once attached it is stable and will not bend or flex. It carries a lot, but still remains hard. It was easy to attach to my cruiser with the included hardware. Powder coating feels quite thick, more than just a coat of paint. I tried scratching with a key (not much). It left a mark but didn't hit bare metal right away, so it should wear well. I expect this basket will hold up well to normal use. This basket puts a noticeable amount of weight on the front of the bike even when empty, but that's to be expected with a basket of this size and wire gauge. Keep this in mind if you are a weight conscious cyclist. The weight affects not only the steering balance, but also the balance when parking. I had to fiddle with the bike to balance it when parked as the extra weight causes the front wheel to spin more than usual. I may need to adjust the footpeg to keep the bike from leaning as much and staying more upright. I'm just trying to find somewhere to lean the bike when I park it. This basket holds a heavier load than I'm willing to carry because my steering becomes too unstable at full load. This is a driver issue, not a recycle bin. I had a bit of a learning curve getting used to the extra weight on the front wheel. Someone younger and stronger than me would probably do better. So far I've enjoyed bringing groceries home with this basket instead of using a backpack and huge bags dangling from either shoulder. I still use a backpack, but despite the extra weight on the front, it's easier to ride than having large bags swaying off my shoulders. The sizes in the list are indicated by the top of the basket. The sides taper or angle towards them so that the inside bottom measurement is smaller. The base size of the basket is approximately 15.5 inches x 10.5 inches. This can be important when you need something that sits flat on the floor. The value for money makes this an excellent choice. Overall I am very happy with this basket and would like to review Wald products for future purchases.
