but it's pretty light so I don't mind

Maybe the 700 is a bit big for me but it's pretty light so I don't mind. I can fit my stove (MSR Pocket Rocket) and a smaller gas bottle in it. If I pack a slightly larger gas tank, I can still fit other gear in it and try to make the most of the space. I've used it on a small wood fire and on a gas stove - both are good (last time I burned with wood I was in a pine forest - I don't recommend cooking over a burning pine - so much sticky soot. little pocket to put it in if you're burning wood and don't want your other gear covered in black ash/soot stains. But it still cleans pretty well when I get home - just rub a little dish soap right on it remove the soot and let it sit for a while before rinsing (of course if I cook with gas that's not a problem) I use it to boil water so I can't tell if there are any problems with hot spots affecting your food burn if that's how you plan to use this mug for cooking. I like that the handles fold down and don't get very hot when in use. I haven't burned my lips drinking from it either e, although I can't bring it to my mouth once I take it out of the heat source ;)
