Review on Enhanced Performance Rancho RS999304 RS9000XL Shock Absorber by Mark Clark

Revainrating 1 out of 5

So far disappointed.

Received a pair of RS999304 shock absorbers today. To my surprise, there aren't a word of instructions. Well, actually it's about 3 words. Something with gas pressure and do nothing. It's on a tiny piece of loose paper about 1/2"x2". There should be 9 settings but it seems there are only 4 stops on the handle. There is no way of knowing which setting you are on. There are numbers on the button (hard to read when holding it, can't see if you reach under the car), but there's no way of knowing when to hit "5" for example stands. Because there is no hand to show where the number 5 has to be on the dial to be at the 5 position. So I went online to download the instructions. Their website has a section for downloading instructions. But it comes back with the message "There are no instructions for this part number". And this is their TOP OF THE LINE product. I tried several other shock absorber part numbers to find out what I needed to know. Nothing returned anything other than the same message about the lack of instructions. I went to their FAQ section to see if this would help. Well, this section is called Coming Soon. What a nonsense! So far I am completely unimpressed with this product/brand. To update. I contacted Rancho tech support via email from their website. It was 4 days ago. I didn't even get a robo response. This confirms what others have said elsewhere. Rancho support sucks. I found out the hard way that these shocks don't even fit my truck. I installed the first one and thought the shock looked like it was about to fall before the truck's suspension was fully pressed against the bumper's rubber blocks. I went to the Rancho website and went through the shock selection process. He asks a series of questions including whether the suspension is in stock or has it been increased. Using this procedure, I determined that these shocks are for a 4 inch raised suspension. The Revain shock selection for my truck doesn't even mention this important fact. He just took me to these shock absorbers and said they would fit. Bad experiences are the opposite.
