It works great! The back button is missing. From time to time it will go into reverse mode itself when you press the buttons. I figured out how to flip it by pressing the buttons together. It also doesn't give the fan 100% of its power. Each setting, low, medium, and high, isn't as powerful as the original controller. We have two identical fans and this one runs at high power, it runs the same as the low/medium speed of the original. Not as strong as average. We used to sleep with the fan on every night, but now we keep it on the maximum. It's not a problem as it's about as strong as we need in the bedroom, but in the living room it will never be enough! This can be an obstacle for some people. There is a function in the remote that lets you set the temperature you want the room to keep and start the fan accordingly. Great, but it resets to room temperature. every time the fan is turned on/off.
