Bought to put under a large but thin carpet. Felt lining on one side and non-slip rubber lining on the other. I have a family member with a disability who gets by with a walker. I needed this cushion to keep the rug from moving when rolled over it. There are thinner and cheaper linings, but for me it's all about safety and comfort. Pads often don't give you the holding power or plush cushioning that this pad has. With a higher quality pad I don't have to replace it as often. And who wants to deal with carpet rolls, furniture moving, etc., only to be able to put down a cheap pillow again in a few years?
