I always have recipes that use spring onions as a garnish so I need about a stalk. But I have to buy them in packs. I don't cook enough to use up a bunch before it gets gross. This thing really works to keep scallions fresher longer. It's quite large, probably more than I need for spring onions. I don't think it's big enough to toss in a whole sack of carrots. It seems to fit 6-8 carrot stalks. It also wouldn't be big enough to just toss in a bunch of celery. First cut the celery in half. But I want to get more for the rest products. I always see 3 carrots or half a celery left over. I like that there is a mechanism inside that pulls the food out so you don't have to put your hand in. Fits well in my fridge and doesn't take up much space. Haven't washed it yet but it comes off easily and looks easy to clean.
