Pretty easy to use. It's simple, just test and try until it works. I bought this because I needed a way to find out my girlfriend's ring finger size. But without going to the store and not asking her (if she knew what it was and she never wore rings). That way she has no idea what I'm doing with "her ring size". So I did it while she was sleeping and I was the meanest ninja without waking her up. Before the rings I used the supplied screed measuring loop. I left it wide open before placing it on her ring finger. Then it slowly started to tighten. But tighten it enough that I can still take it off easily. Now that I had a reference starting range, I took some rings 4 sizes larger. I wanted to make sure it would stand up straight and not get stuck. This way we can clean the physical ring and gemstones/diamonds for proper care. These trial rings are so smooth she couldn't feel them at all. The day I surprised her with the ring she said "It fits perfectly" and asked how I found out? I told her I'm a ninja.
