We bought these to mount on the camper deck so when we open the awning we can detach the rails from the camper and snap into these brackets on the deck, to avoid this, the diagonal rails at each end of the canopy create a "space" feel. They work great as such. We used screws/washers to attach them to the deck. Very easy to use as the rail "snaps" right into it without bending and if you want to take it off to put it back on the camper just use your toe to push down on the lever and pull them out. This made our tent more of a treat than a fear!
