I only blew the whistle twice and my dog stopped barking - it worked almost too well - he didn't even bark when the handyman pulled down our driveway. She's a toy poodle so she hits it off quickly, but I still didn't think that whistle would work, but it certainly did. (And I know she heard - my cat jumped a mile). I'm waiting to see if the barking stops or if it's just a coincidence. UPDATE: It's been over two weeks now. The first week was very quiet - she barked very little (I want her to bark as a warning - just don't stay too long). Now she barks a warning, but when I say "Shut up!" she actually looks at me and pauses. If she ignores the "quiet" command, I'll whistle and she'll definitely stop. Although sometimes if the object she's barking at while looking out the window is still in sight, she may emit a low grunt (mumble to herself). But it's normal! It's just a piercing bark that I can't stand. I am very satisfied with the pipe - so far so good. By the way, my dog is four years old, so you can teach an old dog a new trick!
