I will definitely buy this product again. I have previously purchased another product and it did the same thing but was $2 more expensive and larger/more difficult to fit into the fan shroud. If you've never connected one of these before, start by disconnecting all the wires from the wall to the fan (except for the bare copper wire). After that, just connect all the cables from the device to the wall wires on one side and do the same on the other side of the fan (essentially this is an interconnect for power/signal from the wall and your fan).
