Review on Ignition Starter Switch Kubota Yanmar by Ted Boone

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Well, when we learned how to install it correctly!

Thinking this was a direct replacement for the OEM ignition switch on my old JD 750 compact tractor I thought it would be fitted and wired up like the original so I left the original in place as a guide to help me install the switch when it arrived. On arrival it was obvious the switch was not identical and there was no documentation which would have saved me countless hours searching for what I thought was the right part to get my tractor working again. After much research and ordering two more OEM parts based on JD part numbers that didn't match the schematic, I finally found a classic car that had been with JD for 50 years and knew what was being done. JD no longer sells this ignition switch so it is aftermarket only and just before JD decided to discontinue support on their older tractors they changed the design to remove a terminal on the switch leaving the aftermarket only one terminal unused let and the internal wiring of the ignition switch takes over and does the work of seven wires with only five! OMG, if they just sent documentation of this change things would be a lot easier and cheaper for me. Luckily I was able to return unused parts that didn't match the OEM I was looking at! GRRR!

Pros
  • Aftermarket ignition switch to OEM specs
Cons
  • Weight
