My problem is that many of these reviews indicate that users intend to use this product to actually measure rings while they are still do it. You will need a metal mandrel to shape and size the rings. This plastic mandrel works best for handmade jewelry when attaching the stone to the ring band. Once your piece is complete you should place the ring backside forward on the mandrel so the stone will fit into the groove on the backside and give you a more accurate measurement. .
