I used these sockets for LED lamps. It is very easy to dismantle the socket for connecting wires. The screws holding the wires are clearly colored (silver for white wire, brass for black wire, green for ground) and they have a U-shaped piece of metal to hold the wire securely in place. The kit also includes a tapered clamp screw to hold the base securely in place should you decide to hang it vertically.
