I thought I needed surgery but it made the pain bearable, not debilitating. I have a torn rotator cuff on my left shoulder and in 2009 I had surgery to repair the rotator cuff on my right shoulder and it was a very long and very painful recovery. I really hope this device will help me avoid that again. This is actually an ingenious device, it doesn't squeeze your shoulder. uses really tight pressure points to support the shoulder. I would give it 5 stars but it is difficult to put on unless you have a mirror on the side or the back strap gets twisted and also the little extensions that come with it should be permanently attached there and not come loose It was easier to put on and they came off so I glued them to it with super glue. And those buckles, what they are for, I just cut them off. And that little protective cover kept falling off, so I taped that on too.
