getting used to a ball vs. moving the mouse didn't take long. Took some time to set the speed to my liking.What could be done a little better is the smoothness of the ball against its enclosure sliding. At very fine moves (say, between 2 letters in a text) the motion gets jittery purely because of the mechanical friction that grabs the ball (no pun intended) ever so momentarily yet noticeably to an extend that the effort applied may make you skid and miss the point of where you want to be. I use W40 (a tiny bit) to lube the ball and it has a desirable effect. It might also be a factor of the unit being new and the rubbing surfaces will eventually polish each other.
