As a father of three who has no money and needs tools for house, yard or car construction or likes to make them himself, I can only say good things about what Black&Decker/Dewalt has done here with the Matrix tool system . It's just the quality, innovation, durability, efficiency of Apple computers, simplicity and intuitiveness, but power and versatility. My two sons and I just finished installing a 5/8 inch plywood and steel roof on our 16x80 RV. The original Matrix base/motor and old model battery are still strong after passing every test a 220 lb athletic 6'3" man would put through driving thousands of 4" deck screws and sheet metal roofing screws can perform with Impact/Driver. Fastening, cutting 5/8" CDX plywood and even 2x4 with 3 3/8" miter saw attachment, drilling 2" holes in plywood and 2x4 with drill attachment. Lots of heavy use for over 2 years and amazing power, performance and Durability I We just ordered a Matrix tool bag to organize and protect our investment and another drill/screwdriver unit (the new model has a bright LED work light at the base) so we now have three batteries (one of which are on the aftermarket), two chargers and two bases/power supplies (two people can now work at the same time), 2 drills, 2 impact/screwdriver bits, jigsaw, miter saw, air compressor/gauge bits I've spent a lot more money on over the years Plug spent -In instruments that couldn't take a fraction of what this unit has been through I just can't believe the quality and versatility you get for this price This is e It is a BIG investment and we are coordinating our future purchases of home flashlights, outdoor beach and work boom boxes, lawn mowers, trimmers, small chainsaws etc with this Black & Decker Matrix battery system and products. The ONLY negative I have to report is that Black & Decker does not offer a brushless motor model in the Matrix system. If you want powerful professional/commercial performance, durability, longer battery life and brushless motor performance, you are forced to make the switch to Dewalt cordless tools, which are NOT interchangeable with the Black & Decker Matrix cordless and accessory system. .This means that if I want to start with the BD Matrix system to save money, I can't seamlessly upgrade and upgrade later to the commercial quality of the Dewalt line of tools, I basically have to forgo the investment I'm making into the BD Matrix and I have to re-purchase all the major accessories, batteries, chargers etc as I plan to start a small home construction, gardening and handyman business with my sons eventually switching to the Dewalt commercial tool system but I regret it Money not a bit spent on this BD-Matrix tool system; This is probably the best tool investment I've ever made.
