Review on πŸ”‹ RSHTECH Aluminum M.2 NVMe NGFF SSD Enclosure Adapter - USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps - UASP Trim - Tool-Free" by Amy Padilla

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Plastic core, aluminum body, fast like every NVMe USB drive I've tried, good for disk cloning

I'm very happy with this USB NVMe enclosure/adapter. This is great for people like me who clone drives when upgrading laptops. That is, with NVMe slots. Those who frequently have to change the NVMe drive inside will find this option ideal. Maybe not so much for someone who installs a drive and never plans to open it again. I will explain. This bag is very easy to open thanks to the practical slide-out design. A simple button and it falls apart. I mean light pressing. The aluminum body of the slider is very easy to put on "at the back" - the R in RSHTECH should be closest to the release button. It's easy to put back on with the next "H" but then the clasp doesn't click and the case slips off very easily. Not the best design in my opinion. Inside, the core is mostly plastic with springy plastic supports that appear to hold the NVMe drive to the metal case to aid in cooling. Pretty smart, but not sure how well it will work. I've used multiple USB sticks and NVMe enclosures. It seems to work as fast as anything I've tried with the Lexar NVMe, and it practically flies by copying around 10GB of files to or from the internal Samsung NVMe drive. It's a mix of small files with some big ISOs and other files. The box includes a drive case/adapter, USB-C to USB-C and USB-A to USB-C cables, surprisingly clear and concise information and instructions, and a small warranty card (6 months). It might not be the best choice for those who want to grab a spare NVMe drive and convert it to USB for a kit or bag. One less easy to disassemble might be better for street warriors. BUT for me and my use where I switch NVMe drives frequently, this is a great option and that's why I'm giving it 5 stars.

Pros
  • Wide compatibility
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
