The product smells slightly woody when opened, but disappears after opening and airing. I just think it's because it was packaged and the aroma is locked in the packaging in the box. After putting this together I found it fairly easy to assemble and it was nice to have a screwdriver included rather than those pathetic tiny ones, it was just the right size for a perfect grip. Well, as we all bird owners know, bird paws need texture so another bird owner after seeing this on Revain went to the vet. Tape to wrap the perches to give them some texture and wow now they look so good and even more colorful with that extra step. I've added an extra toy here - a small hanging rope that can also be found here on Revain. My birds haven't tried it yet because I'll get them in about 3-4 days, once they've played with it I'll try to add a little video. One thing I would be wary of is the little bell toy that comes with this product as birds have been known to get injured or get stuck in their beaks. I might take it off or just watch them closely while they play with it...plus I love this product and I'm sure you will love it!
