The good thing about the case is that the outer shell is made of aluminum-like material. However, the inner shell is made of plastic. And since it's so narrow (don't get me wrong, the drive fits comfortably - I didn't have to slide it in - it's just that there's not much room to breathe around the drive) and there's only airflow on the front the drive heats up a bit when touched, which I don't like that much. I used this enclosure to house a 10TB Seagate IronWolf hard drive to back up my NAS before I had to shut it down. shut down for the first time in 3 years to move to a new location. So it copied long files. If all you do are short, small, random transfers, you should be fine. Even for my purposes it ran a little hotter than I would like BUT it worked fine. So I would buy it again. If you plan on reading/writing the device all the time, I would look for something more suitable.
