Review on Victrola Nostalgic 6-in-1 Bluetooth Record Player: Turntable, CD, Cassette, Radio, Speakers, Streaming - Mahogany by Valerie Petty

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far so good - will be updated regularly.

Updated 3/20/21. It's been a few months and no problems. Works the same as the day I received it. update: great! I got some very quick replies, also from the seller, on something I wasn't sure about. Short version - the player itself hangs a bit when everything is installed; it's ok/ideal. I am very happy with this device and the prompt response I received. Thanks very much! Received this along with a 3 year warranty as reviews suggest this product is fragile/prone to some issues. I only had one issue which I will address at the end of this review. I asked a question relevant to this point and will update my review to reflect what I heard in response. First of all the device I received seemed intact/intact as far as I can tell and looking at the packaging. All of this is wrapped in plastic and comes in a box with the outside saying what it is. It comes with RCA cables. The manual says it ALSO includes a 3mm aux out cable, but I didn't see it inside - RCA cables only. I don't see anything else to confirm that the cable should be there, so I'm guessing it's just a manual typo and not a missing item. It probably doesn't need to be said, but just in case, the lid doesn't open fully, but when you push the hinge forward (toward you) it locks into place. You can easily close the lid. It's open at the back to leave more room to write, so keep that in mind. I checked the FM, Phono (Vinyl), CD and Bluetooth functions. It all worked great. Note that the platter does not rotate until you move the needle lever towards the record. Also, don't throw away the needle cover! The instructions mention keeping them, but if I didn't read and think I'd throw them away. The CD has some limited programming options - basically you can choose the order in which the tracks are played on the disc. Disc. There is nothing more to say about this feature. Bluetooth worked great. I've had a few devices that were annoying and arguing about wanting to be recognized, and this wasn't one of them. Sound quality is okay - if you're looking for something super loud with heavy bass, you'll need to hook up other speakers. I can't take the "blow the dust off the speakers!" treatment, so it's normal for me. Sounds better when device is at least 8-10 feet away, sounds more balanced. For its size and the fact that it's an all-in-one, this is both acceptable and fairly decent, no complaints. I'm used to listening through a pair of computer speakers when I don't have headphones, so that's fine. My only issue is (reminder: I got a reply and it seems ok!) The turntable comes with a screw that can be unscrewed to secure the unit during shipping. The instructions say to TIGHTEN this screw before playing. I've seen some reviewers who I assume got confused when they relaxed it instead. I was able to tighten this screw fairly easily, but the problem is that the turntable itself is REALLY not immune to it. You can still move it about 8mm/thirds of an inch or so, just. vicinity. This includes the platter AND the arm which I expect is still bolted and latched. It's none of those things and it moves when I need to adjust speed or something. Now when the disc is played everything seems fine and the discs play normally but this has baffled me. I'm waiting for an answer to see how problematic this is. It seems to be working fine at the moment, but it's definitely giving me food for thought, so to speak. Other than that I haven't had any other problems and I'm happy with it. If it turns out to be ok, I can't say it strikes me as a sensible part of the design, but as long as it works, it's ok. Overall this is a very attractive, pleasant sounding, versatile player. Let's see if this lasts - I will update this review regularly to reflect any issues, or lack thereof, that are occurring.
