First of all I have to admit that I bought two cinnamon toothpastes at the same time just to see if there was a difference between them. No, as far as I can tell. The other one I bought was Colgate Sparkling White Cinnamint Gel and I don't see any difference. I switch between them for no other reason than to find out if I like one more than the other, and I can't say I have a preference. Maybe they are really the same? It looks like yes. This toothpaste brand has never been what I would call a major player in the toothpaste market. I think it might have something to do with how it was marketed - more of a way of making your breath fresher and more comfortable than saving you from tooth decay. This was different than most toothpaste campaigns but still it was a very good product that I have used in the past and wanted to try again. According to Wikipedia, Close-Up was the first gel toothpaste. It was launched in 1967, which is probably why I remember the ad so well from my childhood. The fact is that it was a gel! and red! and cinnamon flavor! I don't remember there being any other cinnamon flavored toothpastes when I was a kid in the 70's. Because of this, it was a bit "exotic". It didn't take much back then to be considered completely different. Similarly, Pearl Drops Tooth Polish was different due to the upside-down bottle, which was the first of its kind. This is a great toothpaste if you're a cinnamon fanatic and want a different flavor to your toothpaste besides boring old mints. . As for performance, it's not bad in terms of foaming and gentle cleaning. My teeth are definitely smooth after brushing and I like the cinnamon part, although it doesn't linger too long afterwards. I'm happy with this formula because it's thorough and doesn't cause me extra sensitivity. I have very sensitive upper molars on one side which I believe was the result of major gum surgery. No problems with this toothpaste so far.
