Well I had several problems and most of them were related to my cat, but one was common. It's a pretty nice looking item and it's quite large and the scoop that came with it wasn't too bad. However, my cat would not go in a small hole (for fear of stepping into a trap I guess). It's not entirely the manufacturer's fault, but I had to use it without a cap. Okay, good thing the top fits. However, the resulting tray turned out not to be deep enough, it also has beveled sides (deeper in the middle). Although my cat is not a great digger, it was too easy to constantly reach for the bottom of the box and stick unwanted clutter onto the floor because there wasn't enough litter for the cat to be comfortable digging and not reach the floor. It's a lot easier to clean the tray when it's over a liter and much taller on 3 of the 4 sides. You could accommodate a deeper box with side panels and still place the top on top. However, my cat is also on the large breed side, so the space kind of exacerbates the problem. I would give it a full star if the bottom compartment was configured to hold over 4 inches of trash compared to what it does.
