Review on Retevis Programming Baofeng Kenwood Talkies by Melissa Garcia

I give this product 5 stars because after installing all the required software it worked perfectly. I just received these yesterday. Any other feedback here about them not working is either competitors reject you or they have a broken key. I assure you I am not a bot and not a paid review. Read my other reviews, I don't mind saying it like it is if I get ripped off. You can hand program your BOAFENG, but it takes so long to hand key in all those long frequencies, it's ridiculous. So I think they should ship these software keys with the product. First thing I did was install the cable driver on the baofengradio com website (at the very bottom) as mentioned in the YouTube tutorial video I found on Google. While it may have been just plug and play for my latest version of Windows 10, I simply followed the instructions I received on YouTube. (Note the COM port it's on!) Check the Windows Device Manager under "Ports (COM & LPT)" and see if there's a little bell warning you that the drivers aren't working . I think you can find the COM port there too. There are many videos on YouTube about BOAFENG UV-5R programming and cable setup. You also need to download a program like "CHIRP” or the software you get from Baofengradio com. You need to download both and watch the video to decide which one. Initially, I found the BOAFENG software easier to use. But the CHIRP software has a few clearer options. You will need some time to study them. PSI ran these two installers and their cabs on virustotal com and they came back negative for virus or adware.
