I connected the small cable that came with the 5050 LED strip and the controller beeped. There was literally a short in the brand new 5050 cable I ordered (ordered separately). So be careful, the wires are VERY hot (if there is a short circuit) but luckily the controller should have a short circuit detection (the controller is not blown 😅). I shorted the wire by cutting and hand soldering the 5050 and this thing is rock solid. Some reviews complain about their devices heating up and dying. do yourself a favor Buy "Kill-A-Watt". Measure the power your controller consumes. Do not attempt to drive 16ft 60leds/meter with this controller, it will likely get very hot. Do the math, convert watts to amps (A = watts/voltage) - don't try to get the maximum amount of amps this controller can put out (6 amps). In this case, make sure you are using the correct gauge of wire. Be safe with 12V 6 Amps (72W) is the power my AMD 5800x is drawing at idle with a MASSIVE heatsink. Count, look for shorts, feel for excessive heat. Better buy two of these than make a fire. The Hue Bridge worked right away - so there are no complaints about the software. 👍 Also. This thing is 24V. Another way to reduce the heat is to increase the voltage. My 5050 LEDs are rated at 12V so I can't exactly increase the wattage of the power supply, but there are a few things to consider when looking for LED strips if you want to run longer LED strips (maybe try to look for 24V strips - if that's important). Now that I'm not shorting the wires 😅, I'll try to stuff every 16ft of LEDs - a temperature test may need to be done. I don't know if I trust 22 gauge wire which is commonly used to connect multiple strips together. Also, the connecting wires sold at Revain don't even look like copper. I could make one more tirade, but I digress.
