The highlight of this mirror is to briefly hold it under water from the shower, it has to be warm, I live in a very cold house (expensive oil heating) and as long as the mirror is warm, it doesn't fog up . If it fogs up, simply pour hot water over it again. I've used them all and they only last a year so it works as expected for the price. I wouldn't think too much about these things, nothing is fog free, I think maybe NASA has something, but for my budget it works great. You will understand that the purpose of the hook is to take it off the hook, run it under hot water when it gets foggy and then it stays transparent again.
