Didn't work for me

I could never get it to cut clean dowels. I was trying to make a 19" dowel. It would be better if you just try making shorter dowels. I'll try when I'm done with the project. I ended up just buying walnut dowels.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Ideal for making dowels from leftovers.

Great overall, but there is one big disadvantage: If you want to use a larger part, you have to think about how to attach it to the drill. drill attachment. Find out what size is right for the down you are using and go from there.

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Replacement availability

Works great - Fixture

I was surprised by the quality of this tool. He made excellent dowels. I used an electric drill and my metal vise. one size larger than the hole. I made the first 1/4" hole size on the through pins for easier insertion. It was really a lot of fun.

Pros
  • Dope πŸ”₯
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Works well in contacts

This is a great but expensive way to make DIY hardwood dowels. I quickly made 10 feet with a ΒΌ inch cherry dowel. It takes a little touch to generate the necessary pressure without breaking the entry side of the dowel, but once you've done that it should be easy. I've found that running the dowel through large holes and reducing the size by no more than 2 sizes per pass resulted in very smooth, even dowels.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Does exactly what it's supposed to do

I had to make some dowels to fit some screws and I wanted them to match the native pecan I was using. Home Depot's lack of pecans meant I had to find another solution. I bought it after seeing a positive review on YouTube and it was worth it. It does a good job of quickly making small batches of dowels from whatever wood you intend to use, as long as you have a good drill for it. I haven't used it to make carpentry dowels yet, but I will soon and expect it to work well for that too.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time

While excellent dowels are made ***Update***

User friendly. Despite the criticism, I've found I can make good, smooth, true to size, and accurate dowels. For more than 3/8, use an appropriate ratchet socket (sold separately) (17mm is ideal for a 1/2" square shank). I can insert 3/8 right into my drill bit - makes extracting it from the die even easier. I would highly recommend this to people - TOGETHER - a table saw for cutting squares and a set of deep socket wrenches for larger squares. . Or a drill press. Take that and [basically] stop

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Makes normal dowels

At first I tried using it with my drill press but it turned out to be a big problem considering you really have to gradually insert the square pin into the smaller holes until you get that desired achieved diameter. . I found that if I wasn't very careful when setting up my drill my drill would break the keys, in addition to my drill's limited range of motion, it just renders them unusable. I've done better with a hand drill, but my dowels don't come out perfectly, straight and smooth. They all
