At first I tried using it with my drill press but it turned out to be a big problem considering you really have to gradually insert the square pin into the smaller holes until you get that desired achieved diameter. . I found that if I wasn't very careful when setting up my drill my drill would break the keys, in addition to my drill's limited range of motion, it just renders them unusable. I've done better with a hand drill, but my dowels don't come out perfectly, straight and smooth. They all have concentric rings engraved on them and are quite rough. I can polish it up a bit with sandpaper. This isn't a problem for me as I'm using them as pins and only the end grain is visible, but I wouldn't use this if I needed visible pins in the project. My 1/4" dowels dangle in 1/4" holes, but I found the 9/32" dowels press into the 1/4" hole just fine. The drill adapter and 10mm head that comes with the kit do not connect securely and often come loose when trying to rip the dowel out of the panel, which isn't a deal breaker as I got through it could replace any head in my kit tools. I've only made about a dozen walnut dowels, so maybe I'll learn how best to use them.
