Review on Fuel Pressure Test Kit OTC 5630: A Comprehensive Tool for Enhanced Performance by Edris Holwell

Revainrating 3 out of 5

O-Ring Cracked After One Use

I bought and used this sensor for F150 Pickup 2000, which turned out to be a weak fuel pump. I was able to use the extra fitting that comes with the kit to screw onto the Ford Schrader valve on the driver's side fuel line between the 4/5 injectors on my 4.2 liter V6 engine. Then bind an OTC sensor to it. The OTC sensor worked fine and the readings before and after replacing the fuel pump convinced me that the fuel pump was indeed the culprit. However, the reason for my 3-star rating is twofold: 1) The OTC valve is made in China. Although I only used a ratchet to tighten the extra fitting on the Schrader valve, I only hand tightened the end fitting on this extra fitting. Well when I unscrewed it I noticed the small o-ring inside had snapped and was falling out? After ONE use. For real? So now I have to order a replacement set of O-rings to use it again. Rather annoying. 2) The second reason I lowered my rating was that other fuel pressure sensors have more terminals than this one. And if I had additional gauges I could also check the fuel pressure before and after the fuel filter. Instead, this sensor only allowed me to check the fuel rail next to the engine. Would really appreciate better o-rings and additional fittings.

Pros
  • OTC Fuel Pressure Test Kit quickly and easily identifies all faulty fuel system components - fuel filter, pressure regulator, fuel lines and fuel pump - without removing them from the vehicle
Cons
  • Slightly Cracked
