The spring is not strong enough.
I already had sets of this type of card holder. The spring in them is pretty stiff so the cards won't fall out when you move them. These holders have a weaker spring and will not hold the cards in place. I don't recommend them even though they have a flat bottom. (I thought the triangular configuration would be great if you need to discard cards while playing canasta. Sorry they didn't work.)
