Our brother had this camera when he came to visit. He really liked it so after looking at other similar cameras in this category we decided to buy it. It's smaller than our Panasonic bridge camera, making it more comfortable for most of our day-to-day photography, but we're sticking with the Panasonic as there are a lot of things it can't do. Image quality is pretty good as far as I can tell. Photos indoors without flash were better than flash in the office. I used it during our company party and it took good photos even when people were moving. It auto-focuses on faces and there weren't any issues with red-eye etc. We haven't used the video mode yet, so I can't comment on the quality for that. You can't ask for a much simpler setup, and the menu system is easy to follow. Use the stylus that comes with the kit, just hang it on the strap and it will be much easier than using your fingers. In general, it has good settings and options. One real feature that's missing is the number of frames remaining as a function of card size. You can get scores off the internet but I expected it to be like most on camera. It's a small thing, but sometimes the little things matter. All in all, we'll enjoy this camera for most of what we want to capture. It feels really solid compared to some others I've looked at. This is the first Nikon I've owned and I think for this category it was a good buy at a good price. It was on sale and I put it in my shopping cart and then looked at other cameras to make sure it was the one I wanted. When shopping, the price dropped another $5, which was a pleasant surprise.
